The libraries at the University of Montpellier provide access to several legal reference databases, the most frequently consulted of which are: Dalloz (codes and journals), the Lefebvre Dalloz Digital Library, Lexis 360, Lamyline, and Lextenso.

All legal databases are available online, both on campus and remotely. From the library catalog, select the database you want, then log in with your University of Montpellier credentials to access the resource.

Traditionally, there are four formal sources of law: legislation (the law in the broad sense), case law, legal doctrine, and custom. These sources are organized according to the hierarchy of norms (the Constitution, treaties and European Union law, laws, and regulations). The codes, textbooks, and journals available at the University Library allow students to study them in detail.

A bibliographic reference includes the author, the title of the book or article, the edition, the place and publisher, the year of publication, and—for an online resource—the date accessed. To help you manage your bibliographic references and comply with citation standards, the University Libraries offer support and training on the Zotero tool.

The “New Legal Publications” section on this page lists the latest books acquired by the libraries. For legal monitoring and current legal news, the Dalloz, Lexis 360, and Lextenso databases provide access to journals and specialized news, after authentication.
